Photo Entry

The Hay Fishing Classic uses a photo entry system, so there’s no need to bring your catch back to the event hub.

A photo-entry mobile number will be sent to the mobile number you provided when registering.

When submitting your catch, include:

  • Your qualifying photo
  • Your entry tag
  • Fish species
  • Length in centimetres

Photo Entry Rules

To ensure your catch qualifies:

  • All legal native fish must be photographed alive.
  • Fish must be photographed on a brag mat.
  • Take the photo square-on with the entire fish and measurements clearly visible.
  • Your entry tag must be clearly visible at the top of the mat.
  • The fish’s nose must be level with zero or against the mat’s stopper.
  • Position the fish with its dorsal fin towards the top of the mat.
  • Place the brag mat on a flat surface without creases.
  • Fish displaying excessive blood or signs of improper handling will not be accepted.
  • Lengths are recorded in centimetres and rounded down to the nearest whole centimetre.
  • A fish must be at least 1cm longer than the current leader to take the lead.
  • Digitally altered or manipulated photos will result in disqualification.

Murray Cod and Yellowbelly must be returned promptly to the water. Carp and Redfin must not be returned to the water.
